Popular Holiday Craft Fair returns Saturday

A Holiday Craft Fair will take place at Bob Ruud Community Center on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Judy Mouer, a member of the Artistic Divas, a group of crafters in Pahrump, came up with the idea of the event.

“The purpose of our craft fair is to bring crafters together to offer their beautiful wares, convenience in having them under one roof and most importantly, to raise money for the local charities that our chapter supports,” she said.

The event is sponsored by Stardust Chapter #32 Order of the Eastern Star and will bring together members of the Artistic Divas and other local crafters.

“Stardust Chapter #32 Order of the Eastern Star needed a way to raise more money than our bake sales and bazaars could make,” Mouer said.

Stardust Chapter #32 is a subordinate chapter of the Nevada Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

The Order of the Eastern Star allows both male and female membership, and is the largest fraternal organization in the world. It supports local charities and large organizations such as the American Heart Association and cancer research.

“We held our first fair at the Masonic Temple eight years ago. The same for our second. By year three, we had outgrown the Masonic Temple so we moved to the Bob Ruud center,” she said.

Among the local charities that the event will support this year are No to Abuse, Meals on Wheels and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

“The money we make through table rents, bake sales, raffles and community donations all goes to our charities,” Mouer said.

Bob Ruud Community Center is located at 150 North Highway 160 in Pahrump.
