Pahrump Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of: Feb. 16 – Feb. 20. Two percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday — smothered burrito, mexicorn, churros, soup;

Tuesday — chicken and dumplings, green beans, peach crisp, soup;

Wednesday — baked ziti, squash, garlic bread, soup, cake;

Thursday — cheeseburger, baked beans, ice cream, soup;

Friday – BBQ chicken, baked potato, carrots, fruit cup, soup.

Activities

Monday — haircuts, 9:00 a.m.; beading class, 12:30 p.m.; exercise class, 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday — S.H.I.P., 9:30 a.m., exercise class, 10:30 a.m., bridge, 12:30 p.m., Crafty Ladies, 12:30 p.m., Senior Dimensions, 10:00 a.m.;

Wednesday — United Healthcare meeting, 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Crafty Ladies, 12:30 p.m.;

Thursday — exercise class, 10:30 a.m., Stovall Legal Services, call 727-5008 for appt.;

Friday — exercise class, 10:30 a.m., bridge, 12:30 p.m.

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Feb. 16 – Feb. 20:

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — Presidents’ Day, closed;

Tuesday — meat and potatoes tacos, steamed brown rice, calabacitas, apricot halves;

Wednesday —rigatoni with meat sauce, garlic breadstick, lima beans, red velvet brownies;

Thursday — lemon baked fish, tomato soup, corn pudding, steamed carrots and peas;

Friday — biscuits and gravy, bacon, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, mixed berries.

Beatty burros are burdening town — officials aim to remove some members of massive herd

The Bullfrog Herd Management Area, which includes Beatty, is grossly overpopulated with wild burros. According to previously stated management goals, the population of the animals should be kept to around 80 burros, but it has far exceeded that number for years. The last time a gather was carried out, there were more than 800 burros, and the BLM removed more than 400, which was the capacity of the agency’s holding facilities.
