Pahrump Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of: Nov. 2 – Nov. 6. Two percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday — Closed – new carpeting being installed;

Tuesday — tuna noodle casserole, peas and carrots, cake, soup;

Wednesday — meatball sub, Normandy veggies, orange slices, soup;

Thursday — sweet garlic chicken, angel hair pasta, broccoli, yogurt, soup;

Friday – pulled pork sandwiches, potato wedges, green beans, ice cream, soup.

 

Activities

Wednesday — United Healthcare, 9:30 a.m.; Crafty Ladies, 12:30 p.m.;

Thursday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; Senior Dimensions open enrollment, 10 a.m.; Model A Club, 10 a.m.; Movie Day, 1 p.m., sponsored by Healthcare Partners;

Friday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.; United Healthcare, 1 p.m.; Retro Fit, 10 – 11 a.m.; Forever Fit, 1 – 2 p.m.

 

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Nov. 2 – Nov. 6

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — pork chops with gravy, parsley potatoes, mixed veggies, corn chowder, peanut butter cookie;

Tuesday — beef stew with noodles, garden salad, biscuit with honey, apple crisp;

Wednesday — spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, squash, Jello with fruit, Italian wedding soup, birthday cake;

Thursday — chicken pot pie, whole wheat roll, green beans, spinach salad, brownie;

Friday — biscuits and gravy, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, yogurt and fruit, orange juice.

 

Beatty Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Nov. 2 – Nov. 6

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Beatty Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Monday — BBQ pork, baked beans, coleslaw, mandarin oranges;

Tuesday — oven fried chicken, baked potato w/sour cream, steamed peas and carrots, fruited gelatin salad, cracked wheat bread;

Wednesday — spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, zucchini, cottage cheese, peach crisp;

Thursday — turkey enchiladas, black beans, Spanish rice, Jello with fruit;

Friday — Tuna casserole, peas, beets, applesauce cake.

Beatty burros are burdening town — officials aim to remove some members of massive herd

The Bullfrog Herd Management Area, which includes Beatty, is grossly overpopulated with wild burros. According to previously stated management goals, the population of the animals should be kept to around 80 burros, but it has far exceeded that number for years. The last time a gather was carried out, there were more than 800 burros, and the BLM removed more than 400, which was the capacity of the agency’s holding facilities.
