Pahrump Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of: Dec. 14– Dec. 18. Two percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday — herb baked chicken, stuffing, peas and onions, fruit cup, soup;

Tuesday — ham steak, scalloped potatoes, green beans, apple crisp, soup;

Wednesday — smothered burrito, mexicorn, churros, soup;

Thursday — pulled pork sandwich, potato wedges, carrots, pudding, soup;

Friday – meatloaf, mashed potatoes, broccoli, cake, soup.

 

Activities

Monday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; haircuts, 9 a.m.; beading class, 12:30 p.m.; poker, 12:30 p.m.;

Tuesday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.;

Wednesday — Hand Spa, 9:30 -10:45 a.m.; Crafty Ladies, 12:30 p.m.;

Thursday — Old Men's Club Breakfast, 7-9 a.m.; exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; haircuts, 1-3 p.m.;

Friday — T.O.P.S. meeting, 7-9 a.m.; exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.

 

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Dec. 14 – Dec. 18

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — lemon fish, pilaf, broccoli salad, peaches, oatmeal cookie;

Tuesday — Swiss steak, baked potato, vegetable medley, fresh apple, whole wheat roll;

Wednesday — honey mustard chicken, herbed noodles, baby carrots, dinner roll, peaches;

Thursday — Christmas dinner: baked ham and seasoned turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potato soufflé, broccoli and cheese sauce, cakes and pies, salad bar;

Friday — biscuits and gravy, ham chunks, scrambled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, fresh fruit, orange juice.

 

Beatty Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Dec. 14 – Dec. 18

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Beatty Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Monday — hot turkey sandwich, stuffing, peas and carrots, tomatoes vinaigrette, oatmeal raisin cookie, fresh orange sections;

Tuesday — beef stir fry, egg rolls, egg drop soup, rice, pineapple, fortune cookie;

Wednesday — chicken mushroom casserole, broccoli, mashed potatoes, Jell-o with fruit;

Thursday — pork burrito, Spanish rice, black beans, peas, mixed fruit cocktail;

Friday — fish, steak fries, mixed veggies, grapes, cookie

Beatty burros are burdening town — officials aim to remove some members of massive herd

The Bullfrog Herd Management Area, which includes Beatty, is grossly overpopulated with wild burros. According to previously stated management goals, the population of the animals should be kept to around 80 burros, but it has far exceeded that number for years. The last time a gather was carried out, there were more than 800 burros, and the BLM removed more than 400, which was the capacity of the agency’s holding facilities.
