Pahrump Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of: Dec. 21– Dec. 25. Two percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday — turkey pot pie, broccoli salad, baked apple, soup;

Tuesday — lasagna, spinach, garlic bread, orange, soup;

Wednesday — baked ham, dinner roll, broccoli casserole, yams, fruit salad, cherry surprise, soup;

Thursday — CLOSED – CHRISTMAS EVE;

Friday – CLOSED – CHRISTMAS DAY.

 

Activities

Monday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; haircuts, 9 a.m.; Creekside Hospice BP checks, 9:30 a.m.; beading class, 12:30 p.m.; poker, 12:30 p.m.;

Tuesday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.;

Wednesday — Christmas dinner, 11 a.m., and noon;

Thursday — CLOSED – MERRY CHRISTMAS;

Friday — CLOSED – MERRY CHRISTMAS.

 

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Dec. 21 – Dec. 25

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — beef stew, dinner roll, baked apple, green salad;

Tuesday — chicken Alfredo w/broccoli, mixed fruit, whole wheat roll, brownie;

Wednesday — Shepherd’s pie, whole wheat roll, peaches, cake

Thursday — turkey chili, cornbread, mixed green salad, ambrosia;

Friday — CHRISTMAS DAY – CLOSED

 

Beatty Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Dec. 21 – Dec. 25

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Beatty Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Monday — Christmas dinner – ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, mixed berries, pumpkin bars;

Tuesday — lasagna, chopped spinach salad w/ Italian dressing, garlic bread, fresh orange;

Wednesday — fried chicken, steak fries, green beans, mixed fruit, peanut butter cookie;

Thursday — beef tacos, refried beans, Mexicorn, pears, rice pudding;

Friday — CHRISTMAS DAY – CLOSED.

Additional $20M in PETS grant funds available

Gov. Steve Sisolak, the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office and the Governor’s Office of Economic of Development on Wednesday announced an additional infusion of $20 million in to the Pandemic Emergency Technical Support grant program, which opened for applicants Monday.

IN SEASON: Carrots, a kaleidoscope of colors, sizes and shapes

Carrots are a pretty inexpensive vegetable to buy at the grocery store, and for this reason many gardeners do not grow them. I like to grow them because they come in beautiful varieties and can fit easily between other vegetables in the garden. That space would not be used otherwise so I like to make good use of it.

With the Nevada State Horseshoe Pitching Association championships in Tonopah just weeks away, Pahrump pitchers have been getting ready by competing in both NSHPA-sanctioned tournaments and the more informal backyard series tournaments.
