Pahrump Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of: Jan. 4– Jan. 8. Two percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday — beef tips and mushrooms, rice, cauliflower, ice cream, soup;

Tuesday — chicken tetrazzini, mixed veggies, pudding, soup;

Wednesday — pork chop suey, rice, fruit cup, soup;

Thursday — chicken parmesan, angel hair pasta, green beans, cookies, soup;

Friday – meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, cake, soup.

 

Activities

Monday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; haircuts, 10:30 a.m.; Nevada Home Fire safety Seminar, 10 – 11 a.m.;

Tuesday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.; State of Nevada Free Cell Phone Program, 10 a.m.;

Wednesday — Crafty Ladies, 12:30 p.m.; SNCIL, Phones for hearing impaired;

Thursday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; haircuts, 1 – 3 p.m.;

Friday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.

 

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Jan. 4 – Jan. 8

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — turkey pot pie, mixed green salad, whole wheat roll, baked apple;

Tuesday — Roma burger, corn on the cob, baked beans, cantaloupe;

Wednesday — hot turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, squash, cranberry sauce, cookie;

Thursday — spinach lasagna, colorful salad, garlic toast, Jell-O with fruit;

Friday — biscuits and gravy, sausage links, scrambled eggs, oatmeal – fresh fruit, orange juice.

 

Beatty Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Jan. 4 – Jan. 8

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Beatty Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Monday — pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, colorful salad, melon, cookie;

Tuesday — lemon baked fish, whole wheat roll, peas, brown rice, tossed salad, Italian dressing, grapes;

Wednesday — Swiss steak, baked potato w/Colby Jack, sour cream and chives, herbed veggie medley, whole wheat bread and peach butter, fresh apple;

Thursday — chicken fajitas, peppers/onions, refried beans, mixed fruit cocktail, rice pudding;

Friday — loaded potato soup, broccoli, whole wheat roll, peach cobbler.

Beatty burros are burdening town — officials aim to remove some members of massive herd

The Bullfrog Herd Management Area, which includes Beatty, is grossly overpopulated with wild burros. According to previously stated management goals, the population of the animals should be kept to around 80 burros, but it has far exceeded that number for years. The last time a gather was carried out, there were more than 800 burros, and the BLM removed more than 400, which was the capacity of the agency’s holding facilities.
