The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of July 17 -July 21. Two percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday – Grilled low-sodium ham and cheese sandwich, tomato slice, salad, sherbet, tomato basil soup;

Tuesday — Chicken fajitas, Spanish rice, refried beans, corn, fruit cup, navy bean soup;

Wednesday – Raviolis w/meat sauce, zucchini, salad, whole wheat bread, yogurt w/ fruit, soup;

Thursday — Low-sodium Italian sausage w/peppers and onions, broccoli, mixed salad, banana, soup;

Friday – Hamburger w/cheese, lettuce/tomato/onion, baked beans, fruit, soup.

Monday — Exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; poker, 12:30 p.m.; beading class, 12:30 p.m.;

Tuesday — Exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.; haircuts, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.;

Wednesday — Clear captions phones for hearing impaired, 10:30 a.m.; Crafty Ladies, 12:30 p.m.;

Thursday — Men’s breakfast, 8 a.m.; exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; haircuts, 1 p.m.;

Friday — T.O.P.S. meeting, 7 a.m.; exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; Attorney David Grant “Trusts and Estate Planning video, 10 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of July 17 -July 21:

One percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — Chicken and dumplings, green peas, carrot and raisin salad, whole wheat low-sodium crackers, fruit cocktail;

Tuesday — Beef tacos with lettuce/tomatoes/onions, refried black beans, mexicorn, peaches;

Wednesday — Turkey pot pie w/peas and carrots, steamed broccoli, whole wheat roll, fresh fruit in season;

Thursday — Beef stir fry, steamed white rice, beet salad, wheat bread, low-sodium margarine, mandarin oranges;

Friday — Mexican egg casserole, low-sodium sausage, home fries, pineapple chunks, oatmeal, orange juice.

Beatty Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of July 17 – July 21:

One percent milk available. Meals are served at the Beatty Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Tuesday — Turkey pot pie, mixed green salad, fat-free creamy Italian dressing, 7-grain bread, peach jam, baked apple;

Wednesday – Spaghetti with meat sauce, steamed broccoli, colorful salad, whole wheat garlic bread, pears;

Thursday — Chicken salad sandwich, cucumbers in sour cream, fruit cup, black bean soup.

The Bullfrog Herd Management Area, which includes Beatty, is grossly overpopulated with wild burros. According to previously stated management goals, the population of the animals should be kept to around 80 burros, but it has far exceeded that number for years. The last time a gather was carried out, there were more than 800 burros, and the BLM removed more than 400, which was the capacity of the agency’s holding facilities.
