Pahrump Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of Sept. 15 - Sept. 19:

2 percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday — pork chops, stuffing, carrots, fruit cup;

Tuesday — barbecue chicken, baked potato, peas;

Wednesday — chili, cornbread, ambrosia salad;

Thursday — chicken cordon bleu, parsley potatoes, peas and carrots, brownies;

Friday — Salisbury steak, au gratin potatoes, carrots, frozen yogurt pie.

Activities

Monday — exercise class, 10:30 a.m.; beading class, 12:30 p.m.; haircuts, 9 a.m.; poker, 12:30 p.m.; Republican Women meet, 7 p.m.;

Tuesday — exercise class, 10:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.; SHIP, 9:30 a.m.;

Wednesday — Senior Dimensions team meeting, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; crafty ladies, 12:30 p.m.;

Thursday — exercise class, 10:30 a.m.; Stovall Legal Services, call 727-5008 for appointment;

Friday — exercise class, 10:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.; poker, 12:30 p.m.; Western Hoedown fundraiser at the Pahrump Nugget, 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Sept. 15 - Sept. 19:

2 percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — lemon baked fish, broccoli stuffed potato, steamed carrots, beet salad, whole wheat bread, honeydew melon;

Tuesday — baked meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, beets in orange sauce, carrot and celery sticks, birthday cake;

Wednesday — chicken parmesan, spinach noodles, California blend veggies, bread sticks, fruit cocktail;

Thursday — turkey bean burrito, creamed corn, cheesy shells, brownies;

Friday — biscuits and gravy, bacon scrambled eggs, oatmeal, coffee, orange juice, tea.

To mark the solemn occasion, three local organizations hosted Memorial Day ceremonies, with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10054 celebrating at its venue while the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #15 and the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee both opted to utilize the Veterans Memorial site for their commemorations.
