1 flighted to hospital after crash

One person was flown to a Las Vegas hospital Friday evening following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Route 160 and U.S. 95.

Pahrump Valley Fire Rescue Services, Nevada Highway Patrol and Nye County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area just after 7 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer and Corvette with one person trapped inside a vehicle.

When medics arrived on scene, Fire Chief Scott Lewis said they discovered the driver of the Corvette was pinned inside their car and would need to be extricated.

“Upon our arrival we found a tractor trailer with two trailers that had broadsided a Corvette and trapped the driver in the Corvette. Medic 5 provided patient care and Rescue 15 extricated the person,” he said.

Mercy Air was called to the scene to transport the driver of the Corvette to the Trauma Center at University Medical Center in Las Vegas for further care.

The driver of the tractor trailer was reportedly uninjured, just shaken up following the incident.

As emergency response personnel were assessing the two drivers and evaluating the scene, a second smaller motor vehicle accident also reportedly occurred in the same area.

“There was a secondary fender bender that occurred there when one vehicle backed into another attempting to get out of the way of the scene,” Lewis explained.

PVFRS were also called to respond to another report of a motor vehicle accident on State Route 160 Sunday as well.

First responders were dispatched to the intersection of Bell Vista Avenue and State Route 160 around 1:42 p.m. for a report of a three-vehicle accident with injuries. There was also a report that the driver of one of the involved vehicles may be trapped inside their car.

When medics arrived on scene, Lewis said it was determined there was no need for extrication of any of the involved parties.

Although several people reported sustaining minor injuries, only one person elected to be taken to Desert View Hospital for medical treatment. The others were said to have declined further care.
