1 killed in single-vehicle rollover Tuesday

One person was killed and another injured following a single-vehicle rollover accident at the intersection of Leslie Street and Silver Sage Drive Tuesday evening.

Pahrump Valley Fire Rescue Services and Nye County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area just before 5:45 p.m. for a report of a single-vehicle accident with at least one person trapped in the car.

When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they reportedly discovered a silver Nissan Altima flipped over on its roof in a nearby residential driveway in the 2000 block of Silver Sage Drive with two injured occupants.

Fire Chief Scott Lewis said they discovered one of the injured patients was actually trapped underneath the vehicle as they approached. The woman reportedly became trapped there after she was ejected from the vehicle.

First responders were able to employ the use of a forklift at the scene to move the heavy vehicle off the trapped woman.

She was then transported to Desert View Hospital by PVFRS where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.

A second patient injured in the accident was reportedly transported by Mercy Air to the trauma center at University Medical Center in Las Vegas for further treatment of his injuries sustained in the crash.

His condition was unknown as of press time Thursday afternoon. Police have not released the name of the deceased.
