A portion of Highway 372 to be closed for race

For the safety of the participants in the Baker to Vegas relay passing through Pahrump, Nevada Highway 372 will be closed for an approximate two-mile stretch part of this weekend.

The closure, from Red Rock Drive and Lola Lane to the Nevada Highway 160 intersection, is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, Nye County government said in its announcement.

Businesses along the closed route will be accessible from back roads and access roads.

Details:

■ The detour route for all traffic wanting to reach the south end of the valley from Highway 372, except for runners, will turn onto Red Rock Drive to Calvada Boulevard to Highway 160.

■ The detour route for traffic wanting to reach the north end of the valley should turn onto North Lola Lane to Basin Avenue to Highway 160.

■ Team-following vehicles wishing to go to Stage 11, take the detour route to Blagg Road off Calvada Boulevard. Stage 11 is at 51 Highway 372.

The closure is due to the ongoing roundabout construction on that stretch of Highway 372.

The race will run east on Highway 372, turning right on Highway 160 to continue to Las Vegas.
