A wet, windy weekend expected

National Weather Service is expecting rain and potential high winds in the Pahrump area today through the weekend.

Pahrump has a 70 percent chance of rain today with highs ranging from 51 to 54 degrees. There will be a South wind 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 35 mph.

Overnight expect mostly cloudy conditions with a 40 percent chance of rain showers. The lows will be around 40 degrees. The South wind should remain but with less force, around 10 mph with gusts to around 20 mph.

For the weekend, on Saturday it will be partly sunny with the highs 51 to 54 degrees. The wind will be from the West around 10 mph. Saturday night it should be mostly clear and the lows around 37 degrees.

On Sunday it will be partly cloudy with the highs 54 to 57 degrees. The lows will be 36 to 39 degrees.

In the local Spring and Sheep mountains there is a winter weather advisory in effect from Dec. 12, 10 a.m. until Dec. 13, 4:00 a.m.

The snow levels will start at 8,000 feet and could drop to 6,000 feet as the storm progresses.
