Brothel worker arrested on various drug charges

A newly-hired employee at a brothel was arrested this week after various drugs and paraphernalia were allegedly found in her belongings, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sydney Quiroga was taken into custody Monday and charged with preliminary counts of possession with the intent to sell, three counts, trafficking a controlled substance four to 14 grams, conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Chicken Ranch, located on the 10000 block of Homestead Road, in reference to a brothel house madam locating multiple items of contraband while she conducted a new employee search, the arrest report stated.

The responding deputy made contact with a shift manager at the brothel and she stated that the brothel madam had discovered “a lot of drugs” and needles inside of Quiroga’s belongings, the sheriff’s office said.

The shift manager handed over a box which contained a digital scale, a health care receipt with the suspect’s name on it that was wrapped around multiple syringes, a sizable jar of marijuana and a purple Crown Royal bag containing multiple items of contraband, all of which the shift manager said was discovered in Quiroga’s purse and bag.

The bag of contraband allegedly included a medium-sized bag containing methamphetamine, ten square pieces of blotter paper with alien print on them, suspected to be LSD, small amount of cocaine, two glass pipes containing methamphetamine residue, various sized plastic baggies and burnt tin foil, law enforcement said.

When a deputy questioned Quiroga outside, she allegedly stated that the marijuana was hers but the rest of the items were not, the arrest report stated.

The deputy noted that Quiroga’s speech was extremely rapid and that she was fidgeting, while also noting that she had multiple sores on her arms and legs and that her pupils did not react to sunlight.

When asked if she had used drugs recently, she allegedly told the deputy that she smoked marijuana and meth earlier in the day.

Quiroga was arrested and taken to the Nye County Detention Center where she was being held without bond. The deputy obtained a search warrant over the phone and obtained blood samples from Quiroga to be used for evidentiary testing.

The deputy conducted an ODV narcotics test on the marijuana, methamphetamine and LSD, which all tested presumptive positive.
