Ô Happy Bread

1231 E. Basin Ave.

775-455-0478

Background: “I retired from the French military police and went to baking school in 2015 to learn how to make bread for a year. We then moved to Pahrump where I opened this bakery and have only been open since January.”

“We were on vacation and we visited a lot of places in America before picking Pahrump. I liked it and bought a house here four years ago. We traveled a lot and loved being out in the desert. It’s quiet out here. We wanted the quiet of a small town. We enjoy traveling to big cities to shop but like the quiet of the small town. We are from Toulouse, France. I am a bread baker and my son Julien does pastry.”

Personal: “We really don’t have any free time. We are working all the time. I like to golf but have had no time to do that and my wife likes to go to the gym.”

First job: “I was in the military and my wife was a nurse.”

Business climate: “We looked to see if there were other bakeries in town and when we started there was only one and we are the only French bakery. We could have opened one in Las Vegas, but we really don’t like the craziness of the town. We might do the farmers market. We sell mostly French white bread, some whole wheat, we do some bread with olives, walnuts and figs. We also do Parmesan, pesto, and garlic. Our bread is fresh every day.”
