County taxable sales up in November

The county saw a rise in taxable sales in November 2015, keeping with the trend of increased sales throughout the year.

According to numbers released by the Nevada Department of Taxation, taxable sales in Nye County were up 16 percent over the same period in 2014. Sales totaled $48.05 million in November, compared to the $41.4 million the county saw in November 2014.

The total brings the fiscal year's taxable sales total to $219.93 million, an 11 percent increase over the 2014 total of $198.2 million.

General merchandise sales were up 2 percent to $4.8 million, and restaurant and bars remained flat at $3.3 million.

One notable decrease in sales over the previous year was the motor vehicle and parts dealer segment, which saw a decrease of 16 percent dropping to $4.93 million in taxable sales from $5.85 million in 2014. For the fiscal year the sector was still up 6 percent, with a total of $29.1 million in taxable sales, compared to 2014's $27.25 million.
