County to consider protest of BLM actions, block grants
TONOPAH — Nye County Commissioners will vote on a resolution asking U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., to hold hearings concerning actions of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management that are detrimental to the livestock industry and the economy of Nevada during a meeting at 10 a.m. in Tonopah on Tuesday.
The meeting can be viewed by video conference from commissioner’s chambers at 2100 Walt Williams Drive on the Calvada Eye in Pahrump.
In other business, commissioners will consider any other applications for Community Development Block Grant applications.
Hopefuls for the federal block grant money made presentations at the Nov. 12 county commission meeting asking to do everything from build a recreational trail at the Calvada Eye, reopen the Gabbs swimming pool or construct a series of mountain bike trails around Beatty.
A letter to U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., opposing his bill to withdraw 800,000 acres of public land in Garden Valley in northeastern Nye County is on the agenda.
In other business, commissioners will vote on a lease agreement with Primecare Nevada Inc. for operating Nye Regional Medical Center in Tonopah.
An application for a medical marijuana cultivation and production license for Nye Natural Medicinal Solutions, dba NuVeda, at 2801 E. Thousandaire Blvd., is up for approval.
A plan to spend the half-cent sales tax increase for the Nye County Sheriff’s Department Southern Command will be up for approval.
Commissioners will vote on filling an open bailiff position in district court, a deputy for the Pahrump detention department and a sergeant in the field, as well as a deputy clerk in the clerk’s office.
The Nye County Licensing and Liquor Board will consider issuing a beer, wine and liquor license for Mama Sara’s Taco Shop at 151 S. Second St., in Beatty.
