County’s casino revenues slip

Nye County casinos reported a half-percent revenue decrease to $4.04 million in February compared to the same time last year, the state Gaming Control Board announced recently.

Slots accounted for $4 million of the revenue, with multi-denomination machines reporting $2 million, and penny slots reported $1.4 million.

While multi-denomination machines generated the most revenue, the number was down 14 percent year-to-year.

Between December and February, county casino revenue has increased 2.5 percent to $12.3 million, and increased 3.1 percent to $48.7 million for the trailing 12 months.

The revenue is generated from the county’s 11 nonrestricted casinos including Pahrump Nugget, Gold Town Casino, Lakeside Casino & RV Park, Saddle West and Stagestop Casino in Pahrump; Stagecoach Hotel and Casino in Beatty; Tonopah Station and Banc Club in Tonopah; and Longstreet Inn & Casino in Amargosa Valley.

Not yet impacting the revenue numbers is the Road House Casino, formerly Mountain View, which opened in March.

Statewide, February gaming revenue increased 1.2 percent to $838.9 million, while the Las Vegas Strip casinos reported gaming revenue of $$453.8 million, a 1.7 percent drop.
