Homestead Furniture opens 10,000-square-foot showroom

Anyone driving along Homestead Road for the past several years has no doubt seen a brand new large building sitting vacant just east of Gamebird Road.

As of last Friday, the building at 3271 Homestead Road has a tenant and a new name.

Homestead Furniture owner Maverick Snowdon said the difference between his business and the handful of other furniture retailers in the community.

“Our store differs in the fact that we are a family-owned business and we try to offer quality products at reasonable prices,” he said. “As our slogan says, it’s where quality doesn’t cost a lot.”

As an example, Snowdon said his staff prides themselves on their expert knowledge of the inventory displayed on the 10,000 square-foot showroom floor.

“We also have people here who are very knowledgeable about the product,” he said. “We buy a lot of product made in America and we are very proud that we can offer American products at a very good price.”

As tastes in furniture continually change among consumers, Snowdon he’s noticed what appears to be a burgeoning trend among consumers in terms of style, design and mechanics.

“I think a lot of the home furnishing trends now are motion-type furniture, where instead of just settling on a standard recliner, we have motorized mechanisms, power headrests and things of that nature,” he said. “We opened last Friday and the community has been receiving us very well. We have gotten a very good response and the people of Pahrump have been just absolutely wonderful.”

Snowdon said he and his employees will sit down with would-be customers to work out a customized design plan to decorate their living rooms, bedrooms and family rooms.

“We can pretty much find anything that somebody wants,” he said. “It’s exciting to see people get the type of living room or bedroom set that they desire to make themselves happy. When they walk in here, I think it’s pretty self-explanatory because it’s a matter of personal taste and there’s no such thing as a product that fits everybody. We strive to have a wide array of home furnishings.”

Snowdon also spoke about his decision for the location of Homestead Furniture.

“I think this is a really good location because it seems that the southern part of the valley appears to be under-served,” he said. “I think this location gives them something a little closer to their neighborhoods.”
