BUSINESS: Owner of Master Set Mobile Home Install and Repair

AGE: 70

BACKGROUND: “I’ve been in the mobile home business since 1970. I worked in a factory that makes mobile homes for 10 years as a supervisor, and as the manager of Westwood Homes in Las Vegas for four years.”

FIRST JOB: “I joined the Air Force when I was 18 and stayed in for eight years.”

YEARS IN BUSINESS: “I opened Master Set in Pahrump in 1988. There was a heyday of mobile home installations between then and when it topped out in 2004. I never had much of a chance to really meet the people back then … It was mostly installs. We donate to Food for Thought to help feed underprivileged kids.”

PERSONAL: “I like riding quads and ATVs on the trails in the mountains and enjoy sailboats. We used to have horses and participated in competitions for cutting cattle.”

BUSINESS CLIMATE: “Pahrump offers a lot of opportunity for people to open a business. If you get in on the ground floor, you can make something grow out here. The economy hasn’t made a full rebound but it’s getting better. The thing I like most about what I’m doing now is getting to meet the people.”

“The officials need to make it easier to open businesses here. Do something about the tax rates and impact fees on new businesses.”
