IN PROFILE: Danny Murphy

BUSINESS: Owner Full Throttle Excavation

AGE: 43

BACKGROUND: “I started out working for my father at Ron Murphy Construction. I operate heavy equipment and install gravel pads and driveways, water, sewer, septic systems…anything having to do with moving dirt.”

FIRST JOB: “I went to work running a backhoe when I was 16.”

YEARS IN BUSINESS: “I have lived in Pahrump for 41 years and been in the workforce here for 27 years. We are quiet and march to our own drum. We make donations all the time to local charities and individual families in need. We are contributors to the Toys for Tots program as well. We don’t donate to anything but local charities.”

PERSONAL: “I have a sand car and enjoy taking it out to Dumont Dunes. My 1968 Camaro is my baby. I like to work on cars and have fixed up an Impala for my mother. I’ve been married for 24 years and I love my family.”

BUSINESS CLIMATE:

“Business is great for us here. We have an excellent reputation that carries the business forward. If you do a good job for someone, they are going to tell their friends. It’s sometimes hard to get a business going and keep it going. We need to shop local and the town needs to be more business friendly. I understand the need for impact fees and infrastructure, but our clients sometimes don’t when the fees are so high. It costs a lot to hook up to utilities, too. People just can’t afford it, and it doesn’t help to build the community.”
