IN PROFILE: Erin Hubbell

BUSINESS: Co-owner of THE HUBB with Andrea McGuire

AGE: 50

BACKGROUND: “I was the general manager for a major home builder in Las Vegas for 25 years before coming here four years ago. I grew up in the Las Vegas hospitality industry and wanted a bar of my own.”

FIRST JOB: “I was a dishwasher at Napoli’s Restaurant in Las Vegas.”

YEARS IN BUSINESS: “I have lived and worked in Pahrump for four years. I fell in love with the location and atmosphere of this building. It’s got both indoor and outdoor space and it’s on the way to Death Valley.

“I’m looking at some opportunities to work in the community. We’ve only been open for eight weeks and I’ve been asked to serve on the Last Chance Park board. We are also looking at participating in the local fundraisers such as the diaper run.”

PERSONAL: “I’m a closet artist. I’d like to have the time to develop my creative talent for photography and painting.”

BUSINESS CLIMATE: “This bar had been closed for two years before we bought it and the building department was very helpful in walking us through the process and get open.

“There is an opportunity to make Pahrump a tourist attraction and I think local businesses should cooperate in creating interest so people would want to spend time here. Pahrump needs to be self-sufficient. New businesses create jobs, revenue and raise the tax base.”
