IN PROFILE: Jerry Gallaher

BUSINESS: Driver for Integrity Taxi

AGE: 38

BACKGROUND: “I worked as a double contractor in the mining industry in Elko and Hawthorne for Lockheed Martin for over nine years. I had two back surgeries and was unable to return to that type of work. I went to school for Internet Technology and went to work installing services for Wave Direct. When they laid me off, I took the job with Integrity.”

FIRST JOB: “I’ve been working since I was 13 but my first real job was working in the Hawthorne Museum cleaning everything leather in the displays.”

YEARS IN BUSINESS: “I have lived somewhere in Nye County for most of my life. Although I’m not a member of any local service organizations, I have coached wrestling here and in Beatty and was a volunteer firefighter in Elko.”

PERSONAL: “I love spending time outdoors. I’m a single dad to a 13-year-old and we spend every free minute riding ATVs and exploring the Nevada desert and camping.”

BUSINESS CLIMATE: “This is a community with a lot of opportunities for businesses to grow. There is space on Highway 160 but we lack the infrastructure needed to make progress.

“Integrity’s shuttle service does its part to bring people in from Beatty and Amargosa Valley who want to do their shopping here.

“It is a community where it’s easy to network and build loyalty.”
