Heavenly Sweets Bakery, 3640 S. Highway 160, Building D Suite 104, 775-419-2719

Age: 30

Background: "I am a self-taught baker in that I never went to school. I learned from two family members how to bake, my two grandmothers in San Diego. One was the type of baker that never measured anything and the other was very detailed, an excellent designer. She would do those Barbie birthday cakes. So I learned to design elegant birthday and wedding cakes from the best. This was my dream, to become a baker and an uncle who is a real estate agent helped me to find this place in Pahrump. So my partner and friend Bethany Kagel opened this place up three months ago. For two years, the two of us worked the farmer's market in Las Vegas selling baked goods together."

Years in business: "I have been in the business for 15 years."

First job: "My first job was working makeup at Walmart. That is something else I enjoy doing."

Personal: "I enjoy working with tattoos and designing tattoos. This is something I did before I baked but now really don't have any spare time to do. I also enjoy spending time with my family."

Business Climate: "I think the business climate out here is great because we are the only family-owned bakery out here. I have been told by people that they are glad that we are out here baking because they are tired of the same old thing from Walmart and other corporate-owned stores. We don't bake things out of a can and we do everything from scratch daily."
