BUSINESS: Owner of A Touch of Gold Full Service Hair Salon

AGE: 29

BACKGROUND: “I grew up in Pahrump. I graduated from Pahrump Valley High School in 2003. I started doing hair when I was 18 and have been doing it ever since. My specialty is color. ”

FIRST JOB: “My first hair-styling job was at Shear Talent, here in town and I worked there for five and a half years. One of my first jobs was at Subway and that is when I went to beauty school to learn to cut hair. The owner pushed me into doing this professionally because she was an ex-hairdresser. ”

YEARS IN BUSINESS: “I have been in the business now for 11 and a half years. I would always do my friends’ hair anyway and that was one of the reasons I started my own business. I took over this business three years ago. “

PERSONAL: “I have a 5-year-old son and I have joint custody of him and when he is over I am dedicated to him. He does karate, he was on a bowling league, and he played baseball. We would go to Vegas and go to movies or to Chuck E Cheeses.”

BUSINESS CLIMATE: “The business climate is good in Pahrump and I love it. It wasn’t very difficult to build clientele being in a small town. It takes dedication to be successful out here. You have to show up. A lot of Pahrump’s problems is showing up. You have to be on time. This means you keep appointments and you also do the best to your ability. This is something that is big in town. ”
