Industry embraces Nevada autonomous vehicle law

Nevada’s dedication to fostering innovative industries has gained new strength through the recent passage of AB 69, the state said.

The legislation is targeted to enhance the state’s efforts in autonomous vehicle policy, research and development.

This includes the testing and operation of fully autonomous vehicles, the state said in its announcement.

AB 69 passed the Nevada Legislature with wide industry support with General Motors, the Self-Driving Coalition (Waymo, Uber, Lyft, Ford, Volvo) and the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers testifying in support of the bill.

The measure was signed into law by Gov. Brian Sandoval on June 16.
