Nevada Republicans planning Pahrump visit

Several prominent Nevada Republicans are set to appear at the annual Pahrump Fall Festival Parade, the Nye County Republican Central Committee announced.

Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, Nevada State Senate Minority Leader Mike Roberson and attorney Danny Tarkanian will participate in the parade along with Republicans from Nye County, the GOP said in its news release.

“These leaders are very interested in Pahrump and Nye County, and want to learn from residents about their concerns. It shows their commitment to the people of Pahrump and the rest of Nye County,” said Nye County Republican Central Committee Chairman Joe Burdzinski.

Tarkanian recently announced that he will challenge incumbent U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nevada, in next year’s primary, and Roberson, R-Henderson, announced a run for the lieutenant governor’s seat held by Mike Hutchison, who is not seeking re-election.

Hutchison said he will not seek re-election in 2018. Laxalt is widely expected to run for governor’s seat but hasn’t made a public announcement yet.

The event will mark the candidates’ first appearance in Nye County since they’ve announced their plans.
