NyE Communities Coalition to host Chocolate Buffet this month

Bragging rights are on the line for several local organizations this month as NyE Communities Coalition’s Chocolate Buffet returns for the holidays.

The event, entitled “Chocolate Wars” allows a handful of the coalition’s community partners to square off and enter their best chocolate confection.

Communications Specialist April Jackson said the winning organization will hold the title of best chocolatey treat for all of 2017.

She lamented that the event is exclusively between the coalition and its partners.

Additionally, the treats must be homemade.

“The chocolate buffet is a gathering we do with our partners as a way for everyone to come together in lieu of our monthly coalition meeting,” she said. “We use it as a way to bring everyone together to say thank you for everything that’s gone on in the current year and get ready for the New Year.”

The private event will take place Dec. 21.

Aside from mere bragging rights, Jackson said there’s also an added incentive in the contest.

“We are having our partners to bring whatever their best chocolate treat is and they will be able to compete where the winner will receive a trophy, which is a golden chocolate fountain,” she said. “It’s just an opportunity for everyone to get together and have a great time. We also ask our partners to please bring a teen-appropriate Christmas gift to be given to our Youth Werks youths.”

As a result of the event, the coalition will close between 3 and 5 p.m. on Dec. 21, for the Chocolate Buffet to take place.
