Which races will head to the general election?

Primary races headed for the 2018 General Election include:

■ Nye County Commission District 4

■ Nye County District Attorney

■ Nye County Treasurer

■ Nevada Assembly District 36

Races with no primary that will go directly to the general election include:

■ Nye County Assessor

■ Nye County Clerk

■ Nye County Recorder

■ Northern Nye County Hospital District Board of Trustees (two seats, four-year terms)

■ Nye County School District Board of Trustees Area V

Races to be decided by the primary include:

■ Nye County Public Administrator

■ Nye County Commission District 5

Races that may or may not proceed to the general election include:

■ Nye County Sheriff

■ Pahrump Justice of the Peace

■ Nye County School District Board of Trustees District Area III

These depend on the primary election results. If one candidate secures 50 percent plus one vote, they will be declared the winner. Otherwise, the two top vote-getters will go to the general ballot.

US 95 head-on crash kills one in Nye County

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash along US 95 at approximately 2 a.m. on Monday morning, May 13, according to Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Services Chief Scott Lewis.
