Pahrump man arrested after alleged hostage situation

A Pahrump man was arrested last week after possibly being involved in a hostage situation, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office.

Conrad Jimenez, 27, was arrested Friday after leading police on a pursuit after allegedly fleeing the scene of the possible hostage situation as sheriff’s deputies arrived.

Police responded to a report of a hostage situation at Bannavich Street and Flamingo Road, and upon arriving at the scene sheriff’s deputies found Jimenez fleeing the area at a high rate of speed in a Chevy Tahoe, police records state.

Deputies attempted to stop Jimenez as he fled the scene but were unsuccessful, and began their pursuit.

During the chase, Jimenez almost hit two patrol vehicles in his attempt to avoid apprehension, police said.

At the area of Bannavich Road and Basin Avenue, Jimenez pulled over and surrendered to sheriff’s deputies and was taken into custody without further incident.

During the search of Jimenez police discovered he was in possession of a credit card that belonged to the alleged victim in the case.

In addition, the owner of the Chevy Tahoe reported that he did not give Jimenez permission to have the vehicle, police said.

Jimenez was also found to be driving on a suspended license.

The investigation is still ongoing into the initial report of a hostage situation, and charges related to that incident have not been filed.

Jimenez was was booked into the Nye County Detention Center on preliminary charges of felony eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving on a suspended license, and possession of a stolen credit card. The initial bail was set at $15,425.
