Pahrump teenager dies in crash

A 15-year-old Pahrump boy died last week after a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Highway 95.

Delonae Booth passed away Friday after the vehicle he was a passenger in was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer in Clark County, which also left the driver of the car in critical condition and the front passenger of the automobile in serious condition, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Both injured parties were also from Pahrump.

On Friday night a 2011 Peterbilt was traveling northbound on Highway 95 north of mile marker 31 in Clark County in the right travel lane while a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling in the same lane just north of the semi.

The semi, which was traveling at a greater speed than the Chevrolet, struck the rear of the car, causing the Chevrolet to rotate clockwise into the left lane and into the center dirt median, where it came to a rest, NHP said after its initial investigation.

The semi continued north where it came to a stop on the right paved shoulder.

Nevada Highway Patrol said that Booth succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 69-year-old driver was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas in critical condition, while the 55-year-old front passenger was transported to Saint Rose Dominican-Siena in Las Vegas in serious condition.

The 65-year-old driver of the semi-truck was uninjured in the crash.

The crash is the 57th fatal collision in the Nevada Highway Patrol-Southern Command’s area in 2015, resulting in 63 fatalities.
