A local man was arrested and was preliminarily charged with battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm and resisting after an altercation at a south valley residence on Thursday.
William Dean Wade was taken into custody after police said he struck a man with his vehicle and left the scene following the altercation.
The victim, police said, sustained a broken foot during the fracas.
According to the arrest report, the male victim told police that he was struck by Wade, who was driving a gold Dodge truck following a physical altercation at a south-end residence on Thursday.
The impact, according to police, threw the victim backwards, fracturing the man’s foot.
Upon making contact with Wade at a Comanche Street home, police said Wade became agitated while telling investigators that he was never at the victim’s home.
Police said Wade then went inside the residence while locking the door behind him.
Wade, according to police, exited the residence a short time later and admitted that he and the victim did have an altercation, but said it was the victim who initiated it by striking Wade in the face several times.
Following further questioning, police advised Wade that he was under arrest, at which time Wade reportedly ran back inside the residence, again locking the door behind him.
Police received a search warrant to enter the home and retrieve Wade, who according to the arrest report, resisted arrest by refusing to place his hands behind his back, while reaching for his waistband.
Police were eventually able to place Wade under arrest where he was transported to the Nye County Detention Center and booked.
The victim, who suffered a “minimally displaced fracture,” was transported to Desert View Hospital for medical treatment.
