Slew of medical marijuana facilities receive extended licenses

The medical marijuana business in Pahrump continues to grow as more cultivation facilities have received extension for Pahrump in the last few weeks.

It’s hard to miss the big building going up just off Highway 160 near the Pahrump Valley Auto Mall.

The structure, located at 801 S. Panorama Road, will house a medical marijuana cultivation facility operated by Wellness Orchards of Nevada, LLC.

The cultivation facility is scheduled to open in August, according to CEO Andrew Jolley and will open up several positions for prospective hopefuls.

“We’ll start with 20 employees, we’ll be at 50 within two years,” Jolley said. “As many qualified locals as we can find.”

Jolley explained that going through the process to get the facility up and running has been pretty much the same in Nye County as it was in Clark County, except dealing with one area utility company.

“Overall, very similar. Nye County commissioners have been incredibly supportive and helpful. The building department has been great,” Jolley said. “Utilities Inc. has been a constant source of frustration and have caused a three-month delay in the construction.

“We own 16.5 acre feet of water, but we’ve had a terrible time getting our utility approvals. We are very much looking forward to operating in Nye County.”

Once operational and when product is grown and ready to be sold in dispensaries, there has been talk about providing product to the lone dispensary in town.

“I know the owners of The Grove and have had very preliminary discussions with them about carrying our products,” Jolley said. “We would like as much of our product as possible to stay in Nye County.”

The group behind Wellness Orchards of Nevada has a medical marijuana dispensary in Las Vegas under the name Nevada Organic Remedies. Jolley is also the president of the Nevada Dispensary Association.

A slew of other medicinal pot facilities received extensions of the special use permits at last week’s county commission meeting, with Wellness Orchards of Nevada among them.

Other facilities in Pahrump receiving time extensions include, Nye Farm Tech Ltd. (cultivation), 5400 N. Highway 160; CW Nevada (production), to be located at 301 S. Oxbow Ave., Unit #13; Green Cross of America Inc. (cultivation), at 5101 S. Oakridge Ave.; Nevada Natural Medicines (cultivation), 6041 S. Hafen Ranch Road; Nye Natural Medicinal Solutions, LLC (cultivation), 9680 S. Oakridge Ave.; Nye Natural Medicinal Solutions, LLC (production), 301 S. Oxbow Ave., Unit #13.

One facility received a time extension in Beatty, MM Development Company LLC. (production and cultivation), to be located at 101 W. Airport Road.
