Two-day Amargosa Days event kicks off today

AMARGOSA VALLEY — The 10th annual Amargosa Days celebration is set to kick off its two-day event today at Amargosa Community Park, featuring fun for the entire family.

Everything from a parade, music, poker run, walk/run event, swap meet, craft show, 4-H archery, horseshoes, kids’ games and more will be available for those in attendance.

There will also 40 vendors on-site offering a variety of goods and services to those interested. Vendors can check in ahead of the event at noon on Friday.

Two of the vendors are new businesses that will be calling Amargosa Valley home in the future, and will be on-site speaking with potential hires.

“Two of our vendors, Acres Cultivation and the Uptown Solar Company, will be taking job applications for the two commercial projects that we hope will get started soon,” said Mike Cottingham, Amargosa Valley town manager.

Food options vary from daily dinner and lunch offerings that will be served at specific times during the event, to specialty food and treats.

“We’ve got some neat food vendors. We have a guy that going to be doing homemade ice cream, we’ve got C &S Barbecue coming from out of Pahrump,” Cottingham said.
