VEA district meetings set

VEA has scheduled meetings for all six districts, in four of those districts members won’t vote on directors this year. All meetings begin at 6 p.m., with registration starting at 5 p.m.

The district 1 annual meeting, for the area in Pahrump south of Highway 372, was held Tuesday at the Pahrump Nugget Event Center. The District 2 meeting, for Amargosa Valley and Crystal area, meets today at the Amargosa Valley Community Center. The District 3 meeting, including Beatty, Sarcobatus Flat and Scotty’s Junction, meets Thursday at the Beatty Community Center. District 4 for Fish Lake Valley, Lida and Gold Point, meets Tuesday, March 18 at the Dyer Community Center.

District 5, the area including Sandy Valley, Mountain Springs and Trout Canyon, has its annual meeting Tuesday, March 19 at the Sandy Valley Senior Center, 690 W. Quartz Ave., Sandy Valley. Three candidates will be up for election.

There will also be an election in District 6, the area of Pahrump north of Highway 372, those ratepayers will meet Thursday, March 20 at Nevada Treasure RV Resort, 301 W. Leslie St.

Each meeting will include a statement from the VEA director representing that district. VEA Chief Executive Officer Tom Husted will give an in-depth report on the cooperative’s progress and commitment to member-focused initiatives. Attendees have the opportunity to win power bill credits in raffle drawings.

The annual meeting is scheduled April 26 at Pahrump Valley High School. Registration begins at 11 a.m., followed by lunch. The meeting begins at 1 p.m.

Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Services Chief Scott Lewis told the Pahrump Valley Times that crews were dispatched to a report of a serious two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Sandpebble Street and Kellogg Road on the south end of the valley at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8.

US 95 head-on crash kills one in Nye County

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash along US 95 at approximately 2 a.m. on Monday morning, May 13, according to Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Services Chief Scott Lewis.
