Weather: Drier air, normal temperatures expected this week
After rain threatened the valley for the better part of the last week, with little precipitation actually falling in town, things are set to dry up heading into next week.
Rain was falling all around the area, from Amargosa Valley, to Death Valley to Las Vegas, but Pahrump seemed to miss the moisture as some areas got drenched.
There is a just a 10 percent chance of precipitation today, but after the small shot at wet weather moves out, the weekend outlook is dry and sunny, according to the National Weather Service.
“We’re not looking at a whole lot right now, it just looks like the monsoon moisture is going to push out to the east and we’re going to dry out, John Salmen, National Weather Service meteorologist said.
Through Monday, winds across the valley could pick up, presenting breezy conditions at times.
“We will see the breezes pick up in the afternoon as we get into the drier air again,” Salmen said.
The valley will see gusts as high as 22 mph today and 20 mph tomorrow, as the weather system exits the region.
High temperatures will hover between 101 degrees and 99 degrees through the next five days, which are right around the normal highs for this time of year. Lows will bottom out between 75 degrees tonight and 69 degrees Wednesday evening.
Salomon said that the 10-day outlook shows that the dry air will remain over the area, as the monsoonal flow isn’t expected to return anytime in the near future.
