Letters to the Editor

Thank you for successful golf fundraiser

My name is Gary Bennett and I would like to take a minute and thank the many fine people here in Pahrump that supported the U-turn for Christ golf fundraiser held at Mountain Falls Golf Club on Oct. 12.

We had over 100 golfers and more volunteers than places to put them (nice problem to have).

The very generous folks who donated prizes, sponsored food and holes include ... U.S. Foods, Nevada Realty, Front Sight Shooting Academy, Symphonies at the Winery, Stockman's at the Nugget, Saitta-Trudeau Dodge, State Farm agent Brian Strain, Humana, Walmart, Home Depot, Pahrump Chamber of Commerce, Mom's Diner, Quality Signs and Banners, Terrible's Road House, Spring Mountain Chiropractic, VegasBalloon Rides, Barrett Insurance Services, Las Vegas Golf and Tennis, Par4 Golf, Lakeview Golf Course, Master at Arms Guns, State Assemblyman James Oscarson, The Grill Room, Calvary Chapel Spring Valley, Comfort Hospice, Cain Industries, the Weingardt Family, Shelley Floyd Nail Technician, Dairy Queen, South Point Hotel and Resort and Phantom Fireworks.

We also had a person, who at their request will remain anonymous, donate money which funded the awards and insurance. I would also like to thank our local media for covering this event ... Pahrump Valley Times, KPVM TV, KACE radio and KNYE radio. Also, Ginger Forbes sang the National Anthem for us and did a great job.

There were many businesses that wanted to help, but this year our project got a late start and they could not participate. We hope and pray they can help next year.

We have a date booked for next year which will be the same, "Columbus Day," which falls on Monday, Oct.10th, 2016 ... mark your calendars!! We will start organizing after the first of the year. Thank

you all again and God bless!

Very Sincerely,

Gary Bennett

DVH showed respect and gave excellent care

I have lived in Pahrump for 10 years.

I recently had a bad fall in the early morning. I set off my Life Alert and the paramedics came. My vitals were low and I was taken to Desert View Hospital.

I stayed four days there and I received the utmost respect and excellent care.

I just wanted to thank you and tell the community.

Veterans Day letter to community

There are an estimated 8,000 veterans who currently reside in Nye County, and we at Pahrump Chapter 15 of the Disabled American Veterans would like to extend our thanks to each of you for your service, not only on Veterans Day, but each and every day of the year. We would also like to thank all of the community for their continued support of the DAV and our goal of providing assistance to veterans and their families.

If you know someone who was injured while in the military they may be entitled to compensation from the Veterans Administration. To find out more please contact us at 775-537-5051. If you are a disabled veteran please join us. We meet at 5:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Nye Communities Coalition Activities Building, 1020 E. Wilson Road in Pahrump.
