To whom it may concern:

The Executive Board of Student Council had a chance to see Mike Smith speak at last year’s NASC State Conference. We would very much like to bring him to PVHS because we feel his fairly unique appearance and attitude will connect well with our student body.

My own first impression when he walked on stage was honestly “he looks like Travis Clark (a PVHS student) … this should be interesting,” but I was very impressed with his story. He is essentially a regular “skater dude” who grew up to found multiple charitable organizations and start an entire campaign about positivity entitled “Dude! Be nice!” He is a really powerful speaker and because he is so far from the cookie cutter, clean-cut guys that talk about climbing mountains and the like we believe he will really connect with the kids in Pahrump in a very meaningful way.

We are contacting your organization in the hope that you will be able to help us pay the fee to bring out this speaker. The cost to bring Mike Smith out is $3000, but it includes a full day of activities: one or two assemblies, a leadership workshop, a workshop for selected athletes and lunch with the life skills/special needs students.

If you would like to learn more about Mike, please feel free to check out his website at http://mikesmithlive.com/speaking in your spare time. Any support you can provide in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact us at PVHS if you have any questions.

After reading the letter from a “moderate Republican”, with a severe case of TDS,

BOVEE — Election results: What does it all mean?

First, something it doesn’t mean: the Nov. 4 election is not a wholesale rejection of Trump and his policy.

Government shutdowns are becoming almost like ‘political holidays’ for so many in government.

As a moderate Republican I am just shaking my head at the mindless automatons we actually call elected officials who have been storming around causing complete chaos on Capitol Hill for two weeks.
