Letters to the Editor

Thank you Amy Riches, for standing against incorporation. I moved here because it was a county in 2010, and I enjoy living in a county versus a city.

I lived in a county in California, which converted to a city and found that I had increases in gas, sales and vehicle taxes to pay for a mayor, commissioner and city police (all union), to pay for the new city.

If Holecheck, who was only acquired for present board views, wants to help, tell her to go back to San Fran. She is not needed.

Also, I remind the people of Pahrump we are here to be free of excess regulations and that the members of the present town board will be in line for the positions of mayor, commissioners and other key places in city government and will not lose their jobs, only increase their pay.

Additionally, I do not want a roundabout on a major Pahrump highway, a theme park or a dump site for radioactive stuff (unless placed at Yucca Moutain safely — or any other type of dumping that other states try to place in our county.

As a moderate Republican I am just shaking my head at the mindless automatons we actually call elected officials who have been storming around causing complete chaos on Capitol Hill for two weeks.

Residents of the Autumnwood subdivision have been under what many in the community feel is an attack on their rights by the Nye County commissioners.

Short-term rentals are not a threat to our community. They are an economic lifeline for many retirees, working families, and property owners like myself.

A town board is just that, a town board, no enforcement or regulatory authority.

If Dr. Waters wants to bring it back, he should list positive things that were in fact done and propose changes for the future – not make an argument based on a hypothetical.
