Wake Up, America! It’s the Spending, Stupid

So when all was said and done, the government re-opened, Democrats got the gold mine, Gumby Republicans got egg on their face, and conservatives got the shaft. The more things change …

Indeed, once again GOP leaders caved in without receiving so much as a bag of magic beans.

As such, our country continues to teeter on the fiscal cliff thanks to Obama/Reid and the Democrats — with an enabling assist by squishy GOP leaders.

Make no mistake, ObamaCare isn’t the disease. It’s a symptom of the disease — though to be sure, it’s a symptom along the lines of a 107-degree temperature. It’s already severely harming the patient, meaning the American economy, and threatens to kill it outright if it goes just a little bit higher.

No, the disease is overspending … resulting in a $17 TRILLION dollar debt (and counting). And once again this fall, we maxed out the nation’s credit card but got another increase in our spending limit. It’s only a matter of time before we’ll no longer be able to pay our bills and the “bank” will no longer hike our limit.

At that point, America is screwed. We’ll be BK. And I don’t mean Burger King.

It’s the spending, stupid.

From the Wall Street bailout to the GM/Chrysler bailout; from the stimulus to cash for clunkers, this White House and this Congress have acted in a manner just short of criminal negligence.

There have been conservative canaries in the mine shaft — notably Sens. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee and our own Dean Heller — who get it. It’s the spending, it’s the spending, it’s the spending. And as out of control as it is already, full implementation of ObamaCare will finally send us over the fiscal cliff.

It’s the spending, stupid.

Forget the fact that the ObamaCare launch has been a total, unmitigated disaster. And forget the fact that ObamaCare, as Sen. Reid inadvertently admitted recently, is nothing but a Trojan horse for an eventual single-payer, government take-over of health care guaranteed to produce results every bit as horrible as the government’s present monopoly over education. And forget the fact that the president and Sen. Reid used every trick in the book — including the Louisiana Purchase and Cornhusker Kickback! — to shove this socialized medicine abomination down the nation’s throat without a single Republican vote.

All that aside, for the sake of the nation’s future, the GOP has to draw a line in the sand. It has to do everything in its power to stop ObamaCare — right now! — before it takes root, like Social Security before it, and financially destroys the greatest nation in the history of mankind.

Indeed, it’s the spending, stupid. And that goes for Nevada, too.

Letters to the Editor

I am happy that the election campaigning is over, but most of all the absence of political ads from both parties, blatantly lying about their opponents.
