High school to hold basketball and volleyball camps next week

The coaching staff of the Pahrump Valley High girls basketball and volleyball teams will be holding separate camps Tuesday through Friday.

Basketball coach Jennifer Hagstrom said the basketball camp is for both girls and boys. She said she will take girls going into third grade through ninth, and boys from third grade through sixth.

The coaches at the camp will be Ed Kirkwood, Bob Bruce, Mike Swango, and Krystal Thacker.

“The first goal is for the kids to have fun,” Hagstrom said. “The other goal is to get kids started in basketball. I want kids excited about playing basketball. Of course we also use it to see who we have coming up to high school.”

Hagstrom said the basketball camp will start at 9 a.m. and run to 11 a.m. in the main gym.

The cost of the basketball camp and volleyball camp is $40 each and for both is $70.

The volleyball camp will be in the afternoon from 11;30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. This camp is for girls going into fourth grade through ninth grade.

The camp will be run by Trojans Coach Jill Harris and she will be helped by Susan Toomer.

Both camps will use many of the varsity players to help coach the kids.
