Senior wins gold at Nevada Senior Games

A Pahrump senior wins gold at the Nevada Senior Games in Las Vegas. Bill Morris won in a shooting competition, which was on Sept. 13.

The Nevada Senior games run from Sept. 10 through Oct. 15 in Las Vegas.

Morris has been shooting for 40 to 50 years, and is now 80 and won in the 80-84 year division, two golds for .22 caliber pistol and .38 caliber pistol shooting.

“I won and was among 50 shooters at this competition,” Morris said. “This competition gives me something to look forward to and it keeps me from going mentally dead. I have been competing for 30 years now.”

He hopes that one day the games are held in Pahrump so he won’t have to drive as far.

He said he has been doing the senior games for only 10 years. There are usually around 1,000 seniors that participate in these games from all over the state.
