Nevada on Friday reported 1,003 new coronavirus cases and 20 additional deaths, according to data from the Department of Health and Human Services.

The state Health and Human Services Department also reported eight deaths and a 0.1 percentage increase in the COVID-19 test positivity rate, which now stands at 12.7 percent.

The number of new cases was the highest three-day total since the state halted weekend reporting of COVID-19 data in mid-April.
The Southern Nevada Health District’s recommendation extends to both those vaccinated against COVID-19 and unvaccinated people.
The state’s test positivity rate jumped again as well, topping 11 percent for the first time since mid-February.
A health official said California residents, particularly the unvaccinated, should rethink traveling to Nevada or other states where COVID-19 cases are high.
Positivity rate also jumps sharply to 9.5 as deaths remain above two-week moving average.
