Lady Trojans softball takes 3 out of 5 in California tournament
The Trojans softball team won three and lost two at the Colorado River Tourney over the weekend in Needles, California.
Pahrump Valley (5-2 overall) played two games on Thursday, beating a Palo Verde Valley team from California, 9-5 and then beating White Pine 9-3.
On Friday Pahrump played two games, losing to Rancho 8-0 and then beating Sunrise Mountain 12-8.
The team played their final game against Boulder City on Saturday and lost 7-1.
Trojans Coach Elias Armendariz again stressed the importance of defense.
“In our two losses we could not effectively hit their pitching and we need to work on our defense,” he said.
In the tourney, he played around with the defense. He moved second baseman, Amanda Pryor to shortstop.
“Pryor will mostly be at second base,” he said. “Smith will be at short if Egan stays healthy at catcher.”
This week the Trojans have a busy schedule and play Durrango on Monday, Western on Tuesday, Clark on Thursday and Desert Pines on Saturday. The Western and Desert Pines games are at home. The Western game starts at 3:30 and the Saturday game starts at 10 a.m.
