Connie Mack 14U team makes playoffs

The Trojans 14U Connie Mack baseball team made the playoffs as the eighth seed.

The team played in a double elimination tournament at Centennial High School in Las Vegas and lost the first game to Centennial 13-1 on Monday and then lost their second game to Liberty, 8-7.

The team was coached by Jeff Koenig and Tom Grossel. Program Director and Head Coach Brian Hayes said the team had trouble throwing strikes.

"€œFive of their runs scored off walks,"€ Hayes said. "We look at the season as a success, making the playoffs in the first year of our program and we look forward to seeing this group continue to improve and impress in the future."€

The team consisted of 9th grader Ian MacRae, 8th graders Willie Lucas, Zachary Trieb, Joey Koenig, Tyler Floyd, Nico Velazquez, Dylan Grossel, Brayden McHugh-Williams, Trevor Brown, and 7th graders Grant Odegard and Rayder Maestas.
