Trojans vs Spring Valley
This week is the homecoming game against Spring Valley at 7 p.m. The Trojans (3-3 overall, 2-2 Sunset League) are coming off a terrible loss to Cheyenne where the Desert Shields attacked the outside edge of Pahrump's defense.
Despite the loss, Trojans coach Adam Gent remains confident that his team can get the job done against Spring Valley (4-2, 2-2).
"I am very proud of these young men and they are ready and anxious to move on to Spring Valley," Gent said. "As coaches, we are doing everything we can to have the best game plan and are looking forward to a great game against Spring Valley."
Gent's team is 2-2 in league and he believes he can still capture that fourth playoff spot with a win against the Grizzlies.
"We are both battling and competing for a playoff spot in October and that is always great for any team," he said.
Spring Valley is a passing team. They will try to go to the air against Pahrump. At Western the Grizzlies had 175 yards on the ground and 244 through the air.
Spring Valley runs a spread-type offense and the Grizzly QB, KC Moore, likes to air the ball out to his favorite receiver, Anthony Vasquez. Vasquez can catch and has speed. He also runs the ball on kickoff returns, so the bottom line is that Pahrump has to keep the ball out of this guy's hands. He was 6-for-50 yards against Mojave and 8- for-109 yards against Western.
Kash Jenkins is the other threat for Spring Valley and he too is a receiver.
The Trojans should be mostly healed for this game, minus Kevin Daffer, a linebacker.
