Beatty will play in playoff game minus star running back

The Beatty football made the playoffs through a three-team tie break, and their reward is a trip to perennial power Pahranagat Valley tonight for a 7 p.m. game.

The Hornets beat winless Indians Springs last Thursday, 48-14. Beatty was tied with Sandy Valley and Beaver Dam and the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association used their universal tie-breaker to decide which team went.

Alamo has won 90 straight games and has not lost a game since 2007. Junior quarterback Tabor Maxwell for the Panthers has thrown for 1,998 yards this season, and rushed for another 450.

David Ingram is the other lead rusher for the team with 593 yards. Alamo beat Beatty 50-8 in Beatty on Oct. 2.

The Hornets will be playing the game minus four starters. One of them is lead rusher Jhonpaul Adujar, who has close to 1,000 yards rushing this year. Also, the senior quarterback for the Hornets may be sidelined with a broken tooth, but that has not been determined.

"I am going forward with a positive attitude," Hornets coach James Robertson said. "I will have to shuffle around the lineup and maybe even play some deserving freshmen at key positions. It will be a good learning experience for them."

At the Indian Springs game, Adujar had three TDs and Jacob Oseguera had his first touchdown since returning to the lineup.

Possible starting running backs for Beatty are Nahum Favela and Yadir Rodriguez.
