Weightlifter sets 4 world records at meet

Two Pahrump seniors took home high honors at the recent World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters World Championship tournament held at Bally's in Las Vegas from Nov. 17-22.

At the tournament there were 26 countries represented.

Certified physical trainer and nutritionist Gary Miller, at 64 years old set four world records in four divisions.

"I did it again, true to form I entered six divisions and I set four world records," Miller said. "I also won best lifter in the lightweight men's class."

Miller said he has set 34 world records in his career, which started in 2007. His world records were set in bench press, deadlift and push/pull divisions.

The other senior was Bill Prince, who won his division at 78 years old. Prince taught Miller how to powerlift.

Prince works out at Custom Health and Fitness and dedicates his life to coaching other weightlifters. On most Saturdays, Prince works out at his gym and can be seen helping new weightlifters with their form.
