Pahrump consignment shop hosts special event

The owner of a Pahrump consignment shop is hosting a special Labor Day event, benefiting Pahrump’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10054.

Nye Emporium, which opened last May, is located at 850 South Lola Lane.

Owner Diana Spencer-Saum, a 20-year resident of Pahrump, said the event will take place just prior to Labor Day, on Sunday, Sept. 3.

“All of the proceeds will be donated to the VFW Post 10054 here in Pahrump,” she said. “We are raffling off a 20-gauge, Side-by-Side Coach shotgun. The tickets are being sold here at the shop as well as the VFW on Homestead Road. They are $1 each or 12 for $10. We are normally not open on Sundays, but we are opening up this Sunday for the special event.”

Spencer-Saum noted that the drawing will be held at noon, during which time free hot dogs, chips and refreshments will be served.

Additionally, Spencer-Saum also spoke about her ongoing association with the VFW.

“We’ve been working with the VFW since I opened up over a year ago,” she noted. “We work with them, selling tickets for their different raffles, and in fact, we sell more raffle tickets than pretty much anyone else in town. I asked if we could do the drawing at my location. It’s similar to a customer appreciation event. People are welcome to donate to the VFW if they choose to, but it’s not required. As of late, business has been great. The community has accepted us very well, so I hope to return all the special favors everyone has given me over the past year.”

The 4,500 square-foot facility is sure to have something of interest for virtually everyone, including antiques, art and collectibles.

“We also carry furniture, jewelry, sports memorabilia, vintage items, and so much more,” she said. “We have a lot of glass and collectibles from Coca-Cola and Pepsi. I also have a lot of Native American items such as wood carvings.”
