Game day: Trojans vs. Desert Shields

Come out and enjoy a great football game as our local Pahrump Valley High School will host Cheyenne (2-2 overall, 1-1 Sunset League) at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Now is the time to come together and show your support for our brothers in arms in the military during Military Appreciation Day at the game.

The Trojans (2-3, 0-1) are 1-4 in the past five years against Cheyenne. Pahrump is looking for its first win in league.

The Desert Shields Offense

Cheyenne has some speed in the backfield and prefers to keep the ball on the ground. Pahrump will have to learn how to contain senior running back Clarence Rose. In the two wins for the Desert Shields, Rose had 389 yards rushing.

Rose also has a brother, Joshua, who also plays quarterback. He is a run threat too and had 55 yards rushing against Western and he can air the ball. Rose passed for 183 yards passing in his two wins.

Against Western and Valley, the Desert Shields’ lead receiver was James Henry, with 88 yards for the two games. Another receiver for Cheyenne is Anthony Walker, who had 73 yards at Valley.

In their two wins, the Desert Shields had 500 yards against Valley and 367 against Western.

The Pahrump offense

Despite the loss to the Desert Pines last week, the Trojans put up some good numbers against the Jaguars. The Trojans will have to watch the turnovers and find away to put the ball into the end zone against Cheyenne.
