There is a large controversy over something dear to the heart of animal lovers and those wanting to protect what is considered a part of western heritage — horses, wild horses in particular.
It’s all about the movies this weekend as two venues will be showing films, offering food and other activities Saturday evening.
The Pahrump Valley Museum and Historical Society will host its ninth of 11 lectures at 1 p.m., Saturday in the museum at 401 E. Basin Ave.
Larry Hughes and Stef Purdy have a reputation for throwing a good party. ‘Round these parts, the pair is known for the annual Bordello Thunder Run, an early summer poker run for charity.

August and early September offer the perfect time to reflect on the hunting and shooting sports. Both are great experiences, but different and equally valid.
Concerned friends and family of Pahrump’s residents facing hardships organize various benefits around town. Usually they are held at venues such as bars, meeting places and public facilities. Not this time.
